The Surrey group has been well supported since its formation in 1996, which is encouraging. I am grateful for the help of Brian Dale in setting up and managing the web-site and Geoffrey Payne for the address labels and help in mailing. Thank you all those who have lead walks or helped in being contacts for various events.
I have reduced considerably the number of letters sent by traditional post as I am now using e-mail so if you have an email address email me on
. We now specify if a pub is being offered as a lunchtime alternative, otherwise bring a packed lunch. Some leaders may wish to find out at the start the final numbers expecting to lunch so they can ring the
pub from the start. In the summer we are occasionally starting at midday and finishing in the evening so walkers can dine after the walk if they wish.
Hardy footware is advised as the terrain may be muddy and bring waterproof clothing in case of rain. Please arrive promptly at the start as most people arrive well on time. Please note that in some areas in Surrey there may be no mobile phone reception. If you have to use public transport then contact me or the leader to see if you can be picked up from a station. Due to the scarcity of railways it is not always possible to start from a station. Any suggestions are welcomed.
As I am now resident in Middlesex then some walks will be in this county so I don’t have so far to go!
